Tanzania Network Rehabilitation Project

SaskTel International (SI) was awarded a contract by Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) to rehabilitate existing external line plant networks in four communities which included the high end revenue district in the capital. Work was performed in Dar es Salaam in the business district, as well as the high end residential, embassy, high commission offices and more affluent areas of the city. Work was also performed in three smaller cities (Dodoma, Mwanza and Moshi).

Responsible for all aspects of project management, engineering and planning, SI led nine project teams that consisted of an expat supervisor and three local technical staff. These teams performed external line plant planning, design and construction to serve new customers and extend the reach of the existing network as well as upgrade and increase capacity on some cable routes to handle the new demand forecasts.
