SaskTel International (SI) was contracted for the provisioning of expertise and assistance to design, construct, operate and maintain a fibre optics and microwave transmission telecommunications backbone network, consisting of three parts:
- a microwave system;
- a land cable system;
- over 1300km of a repeaterless submarine cable system (1300 km).
SI provided the initial design and tender production and evaluation, as well as all project management services for all three components of the project. SI field staff provided project management services related to the installation, testing and commissioning of the network. The Telic-Phil Project was successfully completed under budget and ahead of schedule.
